Make Your Own Cleaners For Pots & Pans
Can you look in your laundry and bathroom cupboards and find umpteen
tins and bottles of pungent, toxic cleaners?
|
One whiff of any of them will probably leave you short of breath.
These cleaners are wiped around toilet seats, baths and
kitchen surfaces, not to mention the fact that our clothes are
drenched in them each time we do the washing. A lot of
cleaning products are absorbed by our skin. Many are
carcinogenic and many can affect our central nervous system.
So far
we have only mentioned the affect on our bodies but what about the
affect on our environment. That's another story we don't need
to go into here as you are well aware of how fragile it is.
Lets get down to something constructive and make some healthy
cleaners. Most of ingredients are in your pantry right now, so
let's get started: |

Keep pots and pans clean with these recipes |

Cleaning pots & pans:
Roasting and baking dishes:
Sprinkle the dish with baking soda. Mix 1 cup hot water with 1/3 cup of white vinegar. Pour this liquid into the roasting tin. Soak for half an hour. The baked on food will then lift off.
Non
stick frying pans:
To remove odours of previously cooked food try sprinkling a tablespoon of baking soda into the frying pan. Add a cup of hot water and let the pan site for an hour. Empty and rinse.
Saucepans method 1:
If food has burned on to the bottom of your saucepan place 2 cups of water in the pan, add 2 tablespoons of baking soda and bring the saucepan to the boil. Let the pan sit for an hour, or, in worst cases, overnight, and the burned food should lift off, or
Saucepans method 2:
If food is burned on to the pan place the cooled pan in the freezer. The food often comes of
easier when it has been frozen.
Aluminium saucepans:
If the pan is discoloured sprinkle in 2
tablespoons of cream of tartar and add 1 litre of water.
Bring this mixture to the boil and continue boiling for 10 minutes. For bigger saucepans increase the ingredients proportionally. The saucepan should be nice and shiny again.
