Fading a hair dye
This can sometimes be extremely difficult to do, especially if the hair dye has been there more than three days. Here a few suggestions you might like to try. Please note: all of these will dry out your hair.
Make sure you use oodles of hair conditioner to follow on afterwards or otherwise you may end up with hair like straw.
Anti-dandruff shampoos - Shampoo your hair twice a day with anti-dandruff shampoos. "Head and Shoulders" variety is recommended.
Lemon juice - Squeeze at least a cupful of lemon juice. Tip this over your hair. Towel dry enough of it to enable you to walk outdoors. Find a spot in the sun and sit there for an hour. Rinse out with warm water.
Salty water - Tip one and a half cups of salt into a bucket and fill it with warm water. Soak your hair in it for 5 minutes or so. Rinse out with warm water.
Dish washing liquid - Wash your hair several times with dish washing liquid. This will be very tough on your hair so condition it especially well afterwards. Preferably leave the conditioner in for 5 minutes.
Bi-Carb soda (also known as baking soda) - Mix 1 teaspoonful in four cups of warm water and pour through your hair. Massage your hair with it. Rinse well and condition after.
After you have faded your hair to a lighter colour give it a hot oil treatment. You may have to do this once a week for a few weeks to repair the dryness caused by the various hair lighteners detailed above.
