I have a sweet tooth (far more so than anyone else in my immediate family) so when I bake a cake generally it is for comfort food for me. However I must admit I get a lot of pleasure from watching my family and friends devour a freshly baked home-made cake. As long as we only make cakes and sweet goodies a small part of our diet then I think that's OK.

I have to be wary of cooking cakes with chocolate in them. If I'm not very careful I find I have eaten 3/4 of the cake just by myself. I adore chocolate. Jelly babies, mints and liquorice could sit beside me quite safely all day but add chocolate into the equation and bang!!! It disappears fast.
